James E. Cuthrell – holds a MFA in Scenographic Design from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a BA in Technical Theatre from Radford University.  James is an Assistant Professor at Meredith College where he teaches theatrical design and technology.  Before moving to Raleigh, James worked at the Tony Award winning Hartford Stage Company in Connecticut, and the Utah Shakespearean Festival.  Regionally, he has also worked with Barter Theatre and Charleston Stage Company, and Palm Beach Opera.  He has also served, for the past two years, as the Technical Theatre Chair for the Center for Creative Youth, an intensive arts training program, at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

In addition to Meredith College and Stillwater Theatre Company, James has designed locally for Manbites Dog Theatre, Cary Applause!, StreetSigns Theatre at UNC, Theatre Or, and Justice Theatre Project.
